A wee while ago, as part of the summer holiday programme, our education team, Jen and Jolie, invited families to Petone beach to have some fun in the sand.
We could not have asked for better weather as both Wednesday and Thursday were beautifully sunny days and perfect weather for creating sculptures in the sand.
We had a great turn-out and some families enjoyed themselves so much day one they decided to come again the next day.
All manner of things were created including: sea monsters, unicorns, mermaids, turtles, kiwis and even some chairs to lounge on.
It was great to see grandparents, parents and children all working together in a most productive fashion.
A big thank you to Jen and Jolie for providing plenty of buckets and trowels to use in the sand, and of course to those of you who attended.
Here are some photos of …
a bird…
a mermaid…
a unicorn…
and… a sculpture!?
